American Red Oak

Origin: North America, particularly the central and eastern regions of the United States.

Characteristics:

  • Color: Varies from light tan to pinkish red or pale reddish brown. The pores are distinct.
  • Texture: Distinct and irregular grain pattern, often forming “tiger stripe” or “cat's paw” patterns. Hard and heavy, with high impact resistance. Highly resistant to bending.

Other Names: Red Oak, American Oak, Northern Red Oak, Southern Red Oak.

Usage Areas: Interior furniture (tables, cabinets, beds), flooring (parquet), stairs, doors, cabinetry, decorative veneers, and wine barrels.

American Red Oak is one of the most preferred woods in the furniture and parquet industries due to its eye-catching patterns and excellent durability. Its porous structure allows it to absorb paints and varnishes very well.
