Imported Spruce

Origin: Temperate and cold regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Particularly forests in Scandinavia (Norwegian Spruce), North America, Canada, the Alps, and Turkey (Eastern Spruce).

Characteristics:

  • Color: Very light, ranging from creamy white to pale yellowish brown, almost whitish in color. It does not contain resin ducts, therefore it offers a very clean and smooth surface.
  • Texture: It has a fine, straight, and regular texture. It is a medium softness, light, and flexible wood. It is easy to work with and glue. It has low resin content.

Other Names: Norwegian Spruce, White Spruce, Sitka Spruce (USA), Picea Abies (botanical name). It is also known as “Oslo pine” in the market, but botanically it is a spruce, not a pine.

Usage Areas: Musical instrument manufacturing (guitars, violins, piano interiors), structural lumber, door and window frames, veneer, and plywood.
