This acrylic resin-based product has excellent properties in terms of human health and the environment. It ensures that wood lasts for years against all external influences. Thanks to the UV additives in its composition, it protects the wood material from sunlight. It prevents rain, snow, wind, and salt from damaging the wood. With its thixotropic property, it can be easily applied on vertical surfaces without dripping. It does not drip or sag even when applied in thick layers.
Application Areas: Formulated for use on exterior wood surfaces such as doors, window frames, pergolas, and wooden garden furniture.
Application Methods: If there is old paint or varnish on the surface to be applied, it is cleaned with sandpaper or ÜNLÜ paint remover, and the surface is cleared of dust, dirt, and paint/varnish before maintenance. The surface is wiped with cellulose thinner to prepare it for application. The moisture content of the wood should be a maximum of 12% for softwoods and a maximum of 15% for hardwoods.
To protect wooden surfaces from mold and bacteria growth, using ÜNLÜ PROTECT AQUA WATER-BASED WOOD PROTECTOR (545-SERIES) will enhance the effectiveness of our ÜNLÜ PROTECT AQUA WATER-BASED EXTERIOR VARNISH (535-SERIES) product. The product is ready to use in its packaging. If necessary, it can be diluted with drinking water at a ratio of 5-10%. It can be applied in a minimum of 2 coats with a brush, roller, or spray gun; and in a minimum of 3 coats on deep-pored woods such as iroko, oak, chestnut, mahogany, and sapelli.
For tannin-rich hardwoods, ÜNLÜ PROTECT AQUA WATER-BASED TANNIN BARRIER VARNISH (595-0005) must be applied first. One of the most important points to consider for the long-term performance of the water-based exterior varnish system is applying the required amount of material to the wood surface. The product should be applied with sanding (600-800 grit) between coats at a minimum interval of 6 hours/20ºC. For very special woods and applications, information should be obtained from our Technical Service Department.
Note: Keep out of reach of children. Do not store at temperatures below 5°C, and do not apply at temperatures below 10°C. Thinning should only be done with potable water.
